How Do Angiomas Occur?

Scientists are unsure of exactly why angiomas appear. However, certain genetic factors seem to play a role and make some people more likely to get them. They’ve also been linked to pregnancy, chemical exposure, certain medical conditions, and environmental factors. These moles are common among people over 30 and tend to increase in quantity over time.

What Are the Signs?

Cherry angiomas are often bright red, circular, or oval in shape. They tend to vary in size, from being the size of a pinpoint to about one-fourth of an inch in diameter. Some of these skin growths appear smooth and even with your skin. Others can be slightly raised. They can commonly be found on the torso, arms, legs, and shoulders. If found, it’s important not to scratch, rub, or cut them as they can bleed.

Treatment Options for Angiomas

The XEO®’s Nd:YAG laser handpiece is an ideal option for addressing angiomas. This is a non-invasive solution for an issue that once required invasive attention. Treatment sessions take little time, but several visits may be needed to get rid of the growth fully. We can structure a convenient treatment schedule during your initial consultation at our Concord office.
